Privacy Policy
Version 2026-10-18 · effective October 18, 2026
Template text describing how this codebase actually handles data. It must be reviewed by counsel before launch.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email, optional phone number, and a hashed password.
- Bookings: the docks, dates and amounts you book, and reviews you write.
- Your boats: each boat's name, length, registration or documentation number, and liability insurer, policy number and expiry date, which you enter for your bookings.
- Payments: card numbers are entered into a form that sends them directly to our payment processor, Authorize.Net. We never receive or store full card numbers. We keep the card brand, last four digits, and the processor's transaction reference.
- Listings (hosts): dock details, photos, location, dock rules and availability you provide.
- Agreement records: when you accept the terms, this policy or a Dock Rental Agreement, we record the version you accepted, the date and time, your IP address and browser, and the booking details that applied, so either side can prove what was agreed.
- Usage: pages viewed, searches, and device type, collected by our own first-party analytics. We don't use third-party advertising trackers or analytics cookies. Visitors are counted with a one-way hash that rotates daily, and raw IP addresses aren't stored in analytics. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we don't record analytics for you.
- Security logs: sign-in events and administrative actions, including IP address, to protect accounts and investigate fraud.
How we use it
To run bookings and payments, send confirmations and account emails, show hosts the details they need for your stay, keep evidence of agreements for disputes and chargebacks, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the site. We don't sell your personal information.
Sharing
Hosts see your name, booking dates, the boat and insurance details in your booking's rental agreement, and contact details for upcoming stays. Hosts don't see your IP address or browser. Renters see the host's name in the rental agreement for their booking, and a dock's exact address only after booking. We share data with service providers that run the platform (payment processing, email delivery, hosting) and when required by law, for example in a legal dispute about a booking.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies: one to keep you signed in and one to protect forms against cross-site request forgery.
Retention
Analytics events are deleted after about 13 months. Booking, payment and agreement records are kept as long as needed for accounting, legal obligations and resolving disputes. Agreement records can't be edited or deleted, so they stay reliable as evidence.
Your choices
You can update your profile, edit or archive your boats, and remove a saved card in Account settings. Changing your details doesn't change records of what you already agreed to. To request a copy or deletion of your data, use the contact form.
