Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-18 · effective October 18, 2026
Template text describing how the DockSpace platform works. It must be reviewed by counsel before launch.
The service
DockSpace is a marketplace that connects people who rent out private boat docks ("hosts") with boaters who book them ("renters"). DockSpace isn't a party to the dock arrangement between host and renter, and doesn't own or operate listed docks. Each booking is governed by the Dock Rental Agreement between the host and the renter, which the renter accepts at checkout and the host accepts when listing a dock.
Bookings and payment
- Prices are set by hosts per week. Stays are charged in whole weeks, and partial weeks round up.
- The full booking total is charged when you complete checkout. Renters pay no DockSpace booking fee.
- A booking is confirmed only after payment succeeds.
- For each stay you tell us which boat you're bringing, with its registration and liability insurance. The boat must fit the dock's maximum length and be insured for the whole stay.
Cancellations and refunds
Renters may request cancellation from My bookings before a stay begins. DockSpace reviews requests and, when approved, refunds to the original payment method. After a stay begins, contact us. Refunds are at DockSpace's discretion and follow the Dock Rental Agreement.
Hosts
- Listing is free. DockSpace retains a commission from each paid booking at the rate shown on the hosting page when the booking is made, and the remainder is paid out to the host after the stay begins.
- Hosts must have the right to rent the dock, describe it accurately (including its maximum boat length, check-in and check-out times and dock rules), and keep availability current.
- Hosts accept the Dock Rental Agreement form for every booking of their docks. When it changes materially, hosts must accept the new version before their docks can be booked again.
Renters
Renters are responsible for their vessel, crew and guests, for following the host's dock rules and local regulations, and for maintaining boat insurance and registration as the Dock Rental Agreement requires.
Electronic acceptance and records
You accept these terms, the Privacy Policy and the Dock Rental Agreement electronically by ticking the box next to them. That has the same effect as a handwritten signature. Each time, DockSpace keeps a record of the exact version you accepted, the date and time, your IP address and browser, and the booking details that applied. You can see your records and copies of what you accepted under Account, Agreements.
Reviews and content
Reviews must reflect a real stay. We may remove content that is fraudulent, abusive, or violates these terms.
Accounts
Keep your password secure. We may suspend accounts involved in fraud, abuse, or security risks.
Changes to these terms
We publish each version of these terms with its effective date, and earlier versions stay available. Material changes apply to you once you accept them, for example at your next checkout.
